Well, this marks gonna be my very first piece on Medium.

My name is Mayni, and yes, I was born in May — on May 5th, 2002 (to be exact). I’m a Taurus, born in the year of the Horse, and proudly part of Generation Z. I came into this world on a Umanis Langkir, just a day after the holy celebration of Kuningan in Balinese Hindu tradition.

Ni Putu, means I’m the eldest daughter. Wulan, just like the moon, a soft kind of light, a symbol of quiet strength, and always there, even in her unseen phases. Beyond that, my parents also wanted to naming their child after a brave warrior from wayang legends, Damarwulan, so that’s my brother got the Dhamar. As for my last name, Ningsih, the name came from ening, a Balinese word for clear spring water, seen as a source of life itself, flowing with calmness and clarity.

Those names shaped how I see myself, someone with courage, ambition and spirit, like a brave warrior. At the same time, I carry a calm presence, bringing optimism, warmth, and cheerfulness wherever I go. That’s why I love to join competitions. But you know, a human me also have issues, sometimes I caught in unexpected moments that lead me to make mistakes. My imperfections rear their head often, I’ve come to realize, that strangely they complete me.

Once I think myself as a generalist, because I never took any specialize any path too seriously. I just have too many hobbies, I love watching movies, drama, books, poems, dancing, listening to music, writing, and imagining little life scenarios in my head. I’ve wandered, tried many things, and kept my options open. I don’t know it’s a good thing or a bad thing, but my 23 year old me will do things a little differently. Maybe this is the start of something or maybe it’s just a quiet note in the middle of my day.
